Deep Tissue Massage reaches deeper layers of muscles. It is used to break down knots and relieve pressure points throughout the body. This massage is beneficial for active individuals as well as those who sit for long periods of time. The purpose of this slow but strong massage is to release tension in deep layers of the muscle. A variety of slow, concentrated strokes, trigger point work and cross-fibre frictions assist in breaking down adhesions, (knots in the muscles), flushing out lactic acid and relieving pain. The perfect massage for individuals requiring focus on specific muscle groups.
A relaxing and therapeutic massage therapy treatment. Swedish massage uses long, flowing strokes to massage. The basic strokes are effleurage (light touch), petrissage (kneading), tapotement (rhythmic tapping), friction and vibration. Swedish massage has shown to be helpful in reducing pain, joint stiffness, and improving overall function and well-being of the body.
For the athlete or weekend warrior. Sports massage is designed to help athletes prepare their bodies for optimal performance, recover after a big event, or function well during training. But you don't have to be in the Olympics to benefit from sports massage. Sports massage is also good for people with injuries, chronic pain or restricted range of motion. Sports massage helps to break down adhesions, (knots in the muscles) and increase range of motion.
A relaxing escape during this very special time. Because many pregnant women feel discomfort and added stress on their bodies at various points of the pregnancies, more women are discovering and benefiting from Prenatal Massage. It is a form of therapeutic bodywork which focuses on the special needs of the mother-to-be as her body goes through the dramatic changes leading up to childbirth. The techniques used enhance the well-being of both mother and baby. It's the perfect way to relax and reflect for any expectant mother.
You and your therapist will discuss the desired outcome of your session to determine which areas of your body require the most attention. Relaxing music is played in the treatment room and the heated tables will help you unwind. After your massage you will feel more relaxed and you may feel relief from long-term aches and pains. For the first 24 hours after a deep tissue massage, some people may feel a little sore or achy. This is a normal response due to metabolites releasing from the soft tissue, it is highly recommended that you drink plenty of water following any massage. After that time, you will feel increased energy and greater productivity. For your first massage, try to arrive 10 minutes before your treatment start time so you have time to fill in the Confidential Health History form.
You do not need to wait until you are stressed or injured to get a massage. A regular massage is a great way to cope with physical or emotional stress and is also great preventative care for a person’s body and mind.
